Individual Counselling

Individual counselling involves a single therapist working with a single individual in a private setting. Working one-on-one gives individuals the opportunity to confidentially talk through problems or situations with a trained, compassionate professional. It does not necessarily make problems disappear, but it can equip you with the tools needed to cope with them more appropriately. At Lakeshore Counselling we use a variety of evidence-based approaches. (see below for all the approaches we are qualified to offer).

Is Individual Counselling for You?


Some people are hesitant to sign up for therapy because of a negative societal view of mental illness. We should be taking care of our mental health in the same way we attend to our physical health.  Individual therapy is beneficial for everyone experiencing common challenges such as:

  • Extreme emotions, like sadness or anger

  • Recent trauma, such as the death of a loved one or divorce
